Diguidie-based Incense. Sweet smell. Good for neutralizing strong odors; promotes feelings of well-being and relaxation.
Diguidie is an aquatic root that is highly valued as it is hand procured by brave women along the Senegalese and Niger rivers. Prized by sub-Saharan African women. It does not break down in the presence of oils, resins and other elements, so while it can be used alone, it is regularly mixed with other ingredients to enhance its natural scent.
Typically paired with Gowe in Mali, Ghanaian, Nigerian and Senegalese households, as the combination is said to encourage positive, light emotions. Diguidie is used to purify and cleanse the home, neutralize strong odors, and promotes feelings of well-being, balance and relaxation.
Origin: Northern Nigeria
Traditional African Incense goes by many names - Thiouraye, Turari and Woussoulan to name a few. You will frequently smell these bold, delightful aromas spilling out of Senegalese, Nigerian, Ghanaian, and other West African households.
Since the traditions of these unique scents are passed down from generation to generation, the specific recipes are many times a closely guarded secret. However, the reason behind the intensity of these fragrances is well-known.
Each incense is a fusion of woods, resins, and natural and organic oils that sit and infuse over a period of weeks or months. This process gives African incense its distinct, premium quality that makes it tenacious enough to saturate your senses and perfume your entire home.
Safety Precaution: While using loose incense products, be present until the charcoal is COMPLETELY extinguished. Keep incense and recently used incense burners out of reach of children and pets. After use, keep these objects in a safe, dry and well-closed place to avoid any accident.
